Our Agility Foundations classes are the perfect starting point for young dogs and handlers looking to begin their agility journey. We focus on building the essential skills that create confident, enthusiastic agility dogs, including focus, engagement, motivation, toy and food drive, body awareness, and handler connection. This class provides the foundations needed for future agility training and competition.
Agility Foundations
Beginners
Your introduction to agility
Designed for dogs and handlers who are new to agility, this course introduces all the core agility equipment and skills. You'll learn the basics of contact equipment, tunnels, jumping techniques, and weave pole foundations while developing handling skills and teamwork. Sessions are structured to build confidence and understanding, helping teams establish strong foundations for progression through the agility levels.
Building confidence and consistency
Pre-Competition classes are ideal for teams who have mastered the basics and are ready to advance their skills. You'll develop confidence on all contact equipment, improve tunnel performance, and learn a wider range of jumping manoeuvres at lower jump heights. Weave pole training continues to progress while handlers begin to tackle more challenging sequences and courses, preparing for the transition into competitive agility.
Pre-Competition
Grade 0
Preparing for your first competitions
Grade 0 classes focus on developing the skills needed to successfully enter and enjoy agility competitions. Dogs and handlers will work on flowing sequences and complete courses at lower jump heights, while continuing to advance weave pole performance and obstacle commitment. The emphasis is on building confidence, consistency, and independence while introducing competition-style challenges in a supportive environment.
Developing competition-ready teams
For teams confidently performing all agility equipment, this class focuses on running Grade 1 and 2 level courses and refining competition skills. Handlers will learn more advanced handling techniques, improve timing and communication, and build consistency across a variety of course designs. Sessions are designed to increase confidence in competition environments while helping dogs and handlers achieve reliable, successful performances.
Grade 1–2
Grade 3–5
Advancing technical skills and course performance
At this level, courses become more technically challenging and require greater precision from both dog and handler. Training focuses on advanced handling manoeuvres, complex course sequences, jump commitment and discrimination, as well as improving contact and weave entries under increasing pressure. These classes help teams develop the skills needed to tackle higher-level competition courses with confidence and accuracy.
Mastering elite-level agility
Our Grade 6–7 classes are designed for experienced competition teams working at the highest levels of agility. Training focuses on the technical and strategic challenges presented by advanced competition courses, including complex handling options, difficult obstacle discriminations, challenging weave and contact entries, and maximising speed without sacrificing accuracy. Sessions are tailored to help handlers and dogs refine their partnership and achieve their full competitive potential.
